Hello all. I just picked up a Pioneer AVIC-F700BT and want to install it in my 2005 F350. Along with the Head Unit, I got the XM tuner and the iPod connection cable. For the install, I ordered a Scorsche FD-1426B double DIN Dash Kit. I am running into trouble trying to figure out what Steering Wheel Interface to buy. I think the PAC SWI-PS is the way to go but the AVIC-F700BT is not listed among the compatible Pioneer products that it supports. Does anyone one know which one to use?
Also, I have installed SAT radio before and put the antenna on top of the dash as far forward as it would go and it worked like a champ. Will the gps antenna work there as well? I really don't want to put it on the roof of the truck.
Any other issues anyone can think of any other parts I may need before I get started?
Call PAC on the interface, they have the software updated or it's in the works and the website isn't updated yet. Axxess, Peripheral and PIE are worth a look too.
Ideally the antenna needs to have a clear view of the sky in all directions. Placing it on the dash limits the antenna's reception to around 90 degrees or so. It's not going to be critical in most areas, but in a city with tall buildings or in the woods, it might help.
I ran the antenna wire for my Pioneer AVIC through the headliner, out the 3rd brake light onto the roof and for some reason, the wire was getting damaged at some point because I was going through nav antenna's at rate of about 1 every 2 years. I gave up and am running it on the dash now, not having any issues whatsoever and picks up the signal fine. My Sirius antenna is still run out the 3rd brake light, no issues ever with that antenna placement.
