Need Help

Hi all, I am new to this forum and am looking for some advice with the truck I just bought. I have a 2004 F250 FX4 Superduty with the powerstroke turbo diesel with 70,000 miles on it. It has new 33" procomp tires with no lift.

First issue. I just replaced the front and rear shocks with the procomp MX6 adjustable shocks because the ride felt pretty crapy. There was a thud under my feet on the drivers side when I would hit any bump in the road and the former shocks (Rancho) had long since lost their spring.

After replacing the shocks the ride improved 150% but I am still experiencing that thud under my feet. I have ordered a new stabilizer but was wondering what else I should replace to get the ride back to new or better condition?

Second issue. I think it may be turbo lag but, sometimes (not often) the truck has almost NO acceleration, I can compare it to driving stick and almost stalling out of first gear, it just doesen't respond for a few seconds, then just kicks in. What is up with that?

The motor is pretty much stock with the only performance upgrade being a Banks exhaust from the turbo back.

Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance...

You probably didn't need the whole sway bar, just the endlink bushings. The frame bushings would be nice to replace at the same time. Other than those, I would recommend climbing under it with a ratchet and tightening all bolts/nuts you can find.

I don't know about the lag issue, but it does sound like a boost lag to me. You might try holding the brake down and building a few rpms before take off. Build some exhaust flow so the turbo is spooled up and then let off the brake and you should take off like a scalded dog.

...

Diesel engines have a different throttle response than the gas engines that you are probably used to. Don't mash down on the throttle when driving your diesel, try a more gentle approach and roll into the throttle.

If you see intermittent throttle lag it is possible that the vanes in the turbo are sticking. This is probably worth a visit to the dealer.
