Another Treasure

Suspect if were to take same year truck as a 'fixer upper' one would put close to $12,000 restoring it to this trucks condition. Unfortunately, does'nt fit my budget.

Wtf ?

If thats 12k worth of F100, I need to brush the patina off my slick, bolt on some BS Edelbroken aluminum and chrome doodads and have Earl Schibe paint it up to look like a catholic school girl wearing a matching hair barrette & skirt. Get some stolen wheels and take it to Mexico to do the interior one weekend... No Way I'd Pay 12 for that thing.

LOL Bob...I love that one...I agree...but its a dealer so what do ya expect...and to boot the truck is a base truck to begin with...although the dash isnt hacked...gotta give the assembler kudos for not hacking...

Well I'm $3,500-4,000 deep already and it feels like I'm just getting started. Having fun though. Its a lot easier to build one if you don't mind spending the time. Kinda like making payments. You just buy parts when you can. Buying one already done means forking over all the change right then and there. I doubt a bank would make a loan on a truck that old.

Redmanbob; on the money; got a great laugh out of yuor reply.
Nice truck I would be willing to pay in the 3 -5k price range.
I would question the under carriage along with other things to pay over 6k for a truck.
The paint tone concept is tough to accept as well.
"Catholic school girl wearing a matching hair barrette" I like it!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this thread got some attn., if it were a ground up restoration it may be worth the bucks, it's just kinda nice to see these vintage treasures intact and on the road, regardless of the state of their condition, if one wants to paint the truck using a mop,so be it. Of course there is the alternative.

I bought a 351 cleveland for my project. I sat in the guys garage and started pulling casting numbers to verify production year.

You couldn't come close to the quality of this truck if you restored one on your own??? Oh, yeah that's a pretty tall claim especially coming from someone who uses a crappy universal fit upper radiator hose...

I't not hard to get to $12,000.00 fast on a truck project.

I think I would have used a different color scheme, wheels, and hood badge, but it aint mine.

Hard to tell whats under the pack rats nest in there. It does have a 4bl autolite though. Or maybe the pack rat just drug it up there to store nuts in???? I guess would buy that truck for $200 if didn't have to go further than 50 miles to get it.

If I was going for a dirt cheap truck worth rebuilding, this is it.

As noted in another member's post, over the past several weeks, there have been a number of the 61-66 Ford pickup treasures, either on Criags'list, or ebay going for reasonable prices.

Here is an item, nice looking truck but would be surprised if the seller gets his starting bid of $17,500; moreless reserve, particularly since he has a bow tie engine in it. I like how he's done the interior, and under the hood looks clean.

eBay Motors: Ford : Other Pickups (item 120368075064 end time Jan-31-09 05:30:00 PST)

Here's an item must admit it took a couple seconds before realizing it's a die cast model. See where there is 6 items available, monitoring the auction to see who long it takes before there are 5 available. Aware there there is a strong following of die cast model collectors but at $400 don't think I can afford the hobby.

1965 FORD PICKUP F-100 ICE CREAM 1:18 DIECAST - eBay (item 140296941972 end time Jan-30-09 22:47:54 PST)

Wonder if it's a typo error:

I spent $1,200 buying my truck. The most expensive part is the paint at $500 followed by the seat at just under that. Then the carb rebuild was $285 and the redone dash $240. After that it was some bearings here, brake shoes there, new master cylinder and some NOS parts that I acquired. I'll probably end up with about $3,500 into it and it will be as good as that one except the engine will be correct looking for the year. That makes the total around $4,700. Project trucks are no fun if you buy it and then farm the work out to other people...
