I am looking to buy something to pull codes off of my 00 F250 7.3. The cheapest option I have found is used Hypertechs. Problem is they list 3 different part #s for 99-03, with 2000 having its own part #. I have a DpTuner so I really don't care about the tune but I am curious if all 3 part #s will read codes off a 7.3 regardless of year. Anyone try this?
Is there any other readers out there that are around $100.00 that can be used on other cars too?
just go to autozone or advanced auto, the cheapest one is like $50, mine was 100 but it not only read the codes, but it would re-set the computer and tell you exactly what each code meant.

I believe the codes readers from AZ don't work very well on our trucks.. I would spend abit money and make sure it reads the 7.3L...
Can the SuperChips, Hypertech, Diablo run tests such as buzz or contribution? Can a SuperChips that is VIN locked be used to read DTCs? Hypertech lists 3 different part # and maybe more from 99-2003. Can any of them read codes for all 99-03?
Jaminjer, the MAC ET75 looks interesting. Does it do everything a SuperChips does regarding reading and clearing DTCs? Any reason not to buy it over a SuperChips or Hypertech as I won't be using the program? Got a DP Tuner.
The superchips / hypertech etc. won't do the buzz test or CCT. I don't know about the MAC ET75, but the gauge Chris linked to can run the buzz & cct in addition to reading/clearing codes. I'm pretty sure it can monitor ICP & IPR also.
