Electric Shavers
I don' think any of them are any good. At least not for my beard.
But I suggest you start him off with a regular disposable razor. It is a skill he will need to learn eventually. Then he can choose to graduate to electric later if he wishes.

If he's not got a real heavy beard (and most 14 yr olds surely don't), than any inexpensive electric will work. But I agree with Bill's thinking... I've always shaved with a blade (in fact, I use a straight razor). It's a skill that he'll want to have.
When I was young, and first starting to shave, my beard hair was too find and just laid flat and the electric razor went right over top of it and did nothing.
When I got older, my beard hair got thick and wouldn't easily go through the holes in the razor and it just didn't work.
When I got even older, and quit working, I quit shaving. It's a whole lot less hassle.

When i was about that age i thought that an electric was the way to go. The problem i had was it made my face break out really. I dont know if your son has acne but it made mine worse. Before buying a electric, have him try to use a tradtional razor so if he dosent like the electric or it dosent work for him you wont have wasted the money!
When I first saw this thread I thought it was how the front end on the new ford trucks looked........sorry

I'm 16 and started shaving probably 2 years ago thereabouts.
Mom went out behind my back and got an electric razor. I asked her to bring it back and get her money back. She said to try it. I did. I used it for about 2 months and got fed up with it. It was terrible. I still have it and use it, but only for the little trimmer thing on the back.
I switched to a Gillette Mach 3 and there is just no comparison.

Good for you. It's a rite-of-passage kind of thing.
I have a Norelco electric razor, don't really use it though. About twice a week, I just run a trimmer over most of my face, leaving the goatee of course.
In the long run, throw away razors cost a fortune. Norelco, the $30 corded one, shaves my coarse Italian beard just fine. I tried other brands and ended up returning them. Most mfrs have a money back guarantee for 30 days or so.

I remember trying electric shavers when I was a kid. Never liked them. Just too, you know. Never close enough, or too close. Put more pressure on one to get a closer shave and you burn yourself. You all know what I'm talking about.
You did good getting your son a disposable. If you can find Fusion disposables, get your son a package of those too, see how he likes it.
