There may be lessons to learn from Warren Buffett here. Apparently, Buffett sometimes would make an offer for a business or shares in one, and if he offer was rejected, he'd walk. Sometimes the owners would call up in a few days saying they'd take that price, and Buffett would instead offer an even lower price.

However, with all these sales, is the market strong or are the dealers just avoiding financed sales?

 

I believe they are offering deals, however they are recouping their money when it comes to the financing. They offered me 9.9% saying it was a great deal. I found 6.5%

 

How's this,,,I drove that Excursion I mentioned in this post,,like the 5th post,,,Salesmen calls me on 1/19/09 says he has a deposit on it,,,I call back on 1/22/09,,yep it went yesterday,,they say,,,,I see a new add on CL,,,put on 1/24/09,,,3 days after it left there dealership,,,same Excursion,,same pictures,,,,I call them back,,,see you have an Excursion,,,yep it's sold,,,I said yes I know you sold it 3 days before your last add came out,,he says well it takes time for things to clear out,,,,,,WTF,,THATS NOT RIGHT MAN!!!!
Sounds like a Bait & Switch to me !!

yup.. ya gotta watch em sometimes with them "sweet deals..." we dont do that "pick your payment" non-sense either... they either hit ya with a higher interest rate or give ya a big fat balloon payment at the end of it..

i really dont blame ya for hating sales guys.. especially after what happened to you... When my brother went looking for his 02 camaro he knew exactly what he wanted (features options and all that.. even had a print out) but still wanted to test drive one to make sure he fit.. 6'5 not many cars he fits comfortably in... specially the way theyre designing them to be smaller inside.. anyways... the guys on the one lot we went to were showing him everything BUT camaros... ended up walking away...

Another one wouldnt even cut a deal.. they were being stone faced on the price.. week later they called saying they FIRED!!!! the sales manager and were willing to deal no matter what... but by then wed already found a dealership that didnt give us a hassle.. and bought from them... so they were lil sol there....

When i bought my stang the sales guys didnt like me... I took dad with me when i went.. looked around the lot but the one i was there to look at was the one they had in the paper... we took it for a test drive and came back... Guy was there to greet us when we got out but was nice and gave us some room before pouncing back on us... by time wed gotten back to the lot i was already happy with it and ready to buy... so when the guy finally did approach us and asked how we liked it i simply said we're gonna take it... then he said "lets get started on the paperwork"... to which i told him "thats fine.. BUT.. youll be doing the deal with my dad... " lol and dad doesnt let them get away with any little tricks... Granted we did go with their bank mainly cuz it was better rate than what our bank gave us for the last car was we bought at the time.. but also got the extended warranty since it was gonna be my DD... and got the interior and exterior protection plan... but all in all it was still a good deal...
