IF you need a write up, it's going to be best not to do it yourself or at least find someone who's done the job before (and has the tools) to help you. It's not particularly hard, but if you miss place a shim or change the gears, there are some critical measurements to make sure it's quiet when your done.
Depending on your local shops, you can probably have new bearing, seals and gears installed in your housing for under $1000.
