After being in the shop 5 times, the dealership finally found the source of the oil leak. They will be pulling the engine to replace the bedpan gasket (under warranty thank God!) the tech that will be doing it is obviously certified and has been working on diesels for 14 years. apparently he also pulls an engine just about weekly so he has plenty of expertise. question is......would you go ahead and have this fix done (under warranty) or just leave the engine in and deal with it? I'll be going to the shop tomorrow to meet the tech personally.
why wouldnt you want to have it fixed now? do you feel like paying for it in the near future grand or so? get it fixed now, they might just find somthing ealse to fix... anyways, do it, dont think about it...
If its still under the PSD warranty, take advantage of it. it will only cost the $100.00 Ded. think of the labor cost if out of your pocket. Mine was done the week of Xmas. took the tech 5 working days. so far its high and dry . This tech is the only one at the dealer that does the Bedplates
Every thing is fine. Believe me, i had the same thoughts: what if they forget to tighten something, what if it still leaks, what if i break down in -30 deg. temps? the techs that do this work are not quick lane oil changers. they are the dealers Diesel techs that have done the job. let them do it and if any thing is not correct, its on them to correct it. the best part is no more drips on the garage floor!
never seen a bedpan with a gasket haha. seen a few bedplates though
LMAO! Isn't that a bedpan assket? Just kidding. I agree with everybody else. Get it done now while it's under warranty. As has been said in previous posts, after it has been fixed, If you were to have any other leaks, it will make them easier to track down. Also, these techs are mostly great guys. At least the one here at our local dealership is. They do these things all the time and know where everything goes. I wouldn't worry about having it done at all.
