Flow through console chrome shifter cap

I know there have been posts on this topic previously but I haven't been able to find them for ANYTHING.

Problem: The chrome shift cap came off and I lost it. Accidentally threw it away somehow. Looks like crap now!

Someone had posted that they had gotten a replacement from their dealer for around $10. I went to my dealer and all he would sell me was THE WHOLE SHIFT UNIT which runs around $70. All I need is to pop the little cap on top of the shifter, not replace the entire unit.

What I was wondering is if you have gotten just the cap from your dealer, what might the part number be so I can get one. Or does anyone know how else one might go about acquiring one.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that price is for the whole shifting unit.
Several people here replied that they got just the cap for around 10 bucks.

I broke my cap off and its MIA too. My dealer told me I had to buy the whole setup so Ive been looking around at various salvage yards and all over the internet with no luck.

Did you have any luck

Hey, my cap just came of this week. it is currently hinged somehow still though. Did you ever find a replacement cap and where did you find it. Also is this a common problem with these trucks?

Same thing happened to mine. The "Hinge" effect doesn't last long...it's only a matter of time until it's off like a prom dress in June. Fortunately, I'm still under warranty so the dealer replaced it...shifter and all. Outside of paying big bucks, check salvage yards, ebay and online parts dealers to get around the $70 price tag.

Mine is loose and kind of rattles a little. Is it possible to kind of epoxy it down? Or do you need to be able to take it off for any reason, like if you have to remove the whole shifter?
