E40D "clunks"
I have a 1995 F-250 4x4 5.8 liter with a E40D tranny I have just finished rebuilding it i saved it from the junk yard .I have been driveing it for a week and its been shifting smooth till yesterday it "clunks" when it shifts and when i hold the brake and shift from drive to reverse. I changed the column the OD button flashes when you push it and I changed the cluster yesterday but I am out of ideas i dont want to replace the tranny because i am 20 with a wife and set of twin and dont have time so any input would be greatly Appreciated thank you

When the u-joint between the driveshaft and rear axle on my '94 F250 went out it did exactly what you describe. My buddy and I thought I had a transfer case problem. He was laying under the truck and I put it in gear and and the vibration would travel all the way up to the transfer case! Check those u-joints out and good luck!
