If you remove the stock tube that the crank case tube connects too you will notice a piece of plastic that sticks up inside. It is said that that little piece of plastic will restrict your airflow by about 20%, so in therory if you replace it with a smooth walled pipe you could get more air and in turn lower your EGT's. Don't know though, most do this mod to keep things cleaner.

Having done both the CCV and AIH mods, I couldn't tell any difference at all in performance and EGT's.
As Ron mentioned, the CCV mod is strictly to keep the intercooler system free of oil. It's not a performance mod in any way, unless you're one of those who can blow intercooler boots off easily.
When doing the CCV mod the piece of plastic that stands up inside the tube that we replace is what I am talking about. We replace with a 4" piece of exhaust pipe. By removing that obstruction it is supposed to give you 20% more air flow. I can't remember the thread but I am pretty sure Eugene was suppying the data, so we have to assume that it is true , where the heck is he anyway's?

Yes, both the CCV inlet and the AIH protrude into the intake. However, it seems highly unlikely that anything remotely close to 20% of the airflow is blocked. I've found that number has come from several advertisements from vendors promoting AIH delete plugs and whatnot. However, I've never seen anyone actually gain anything in terms of performance from these two mods, whether it's on the dyno or at the track.
it doesnt block flow..it disturbs the flow..I never did the AIH delete cause the early 99 never came with it..but it sits just before it splits up in the spider going to the head..when you delete it..it makes a even flow going out of the Y into the heads... I never felt or see any diff's in ccv mod..only a cleaner bay....
This is the restriction on the intake side (the little air horn sticking up from the bottom of the black plastic) that you can eliminate with a CCV mod - that is if you replace the section with a piece of 4" stainless steel.

That plastic piece Chris is talking about is in my garage, this is what replaced that piece sitting in the garage 4inch SS cut down exhaust pipe pictured in the middle.
