Running Light Problem

i have a 85 f250, i keep blowing a fuse that runs my running lights and guage lights, but my headlights stilll work and brake lights only come on when i hit the brake, this all happened one morning while headin to work, i replaced the number 20 fuse and soon and i pulled the **** to turn on the running lights the fuse blew. i have no clue wut to do.

You might have a short somewhere.It could range from a bare wire grounding out,lightswitch which would be the first place I would start looking.I would put a new one in and see if that fixes the problem.I that dont work you will need a chiltons manual with the vehicles wire diagram and start tracking wires.It could also be a bad light fixture.Check your fixtures for corrosion.Any elcetrical device not getting good connection will A.not work or B.draw alot of amperage that can exceed the fuse rating or burn up.

i dont know wut i did while i was fiddling around with it but its fixed, lol

I mentioned this awhile, but the brown/white wire for the running lights that comes out of the fusebox likes to melt on these trucks. I found a good foot of the wire on my truck had melted the insulation off and I wasn't even having any problems with the lights yet. I noticed the same thing had happened to a 1990 F-250 I was parting out. I replaced that section of wire with something a little heavier.
