1998 Navi Brake problem

1998 Navi Brake problem

Hey guys, I changed brakes on my Navi yesterday. All around new pads and turned the rotors. Routine job no biggie. Well now when you hit the breaks sometimes the pedal pulses like you are sliding on ice. And suggestions on what the problem could be? Thanks

Did you spray the rotors down with brake cleaner? If not, any grease, oil, or brake fluid on them will cause that wheel to lock-up while braking. That could be why your ABS is kicking in.

I sprayed everything down with brake cleaner

Then you might just have to drive it for a day or two for the pads and rotors to break in and see if it clears up.

One other thing to check, assuming you adjusted the parking brake shoes is that they're not overtightened.

ABS Sensor

Clean your ABS senor and it will stop, if not you will have to replace it. Learn this myself on my 98 Navi.

how does one 'clean' an ABS sensor? break clean? a simple wipe with a rag?

Yes that will do it. Just be a bit careful when wiping because they are magnetic and fine metal particle will be stuck there. They're kind of particles that like to get under your skin and cause pain for days every time you press something.
