Question tru 4 wheel Drive?

I was turning around yesterday noticed only 1 wheel was spinning in the back even as i gave it some petal. right rear wheel to be exact. never saw the left move at all. checked axel code found:

31- non-limited slip- is this meaning it is a one wheeled wonder out back or did i just miss the wheel turning?

guess that means the front axel is same way?

my X is 05 6L diesel. limited.

now wondering if i didnt get what i thought i got. please help dont want to get caught up somewhere thinking i have 4wd and not have it. sometimes my boys and i fish ponds where 4wd is the only way in and out dont wanna be stuck there. expensive tow out.

Jay

Non-limited slip = open differential. Yes, that is a one wheel wonder!!!

For the front axle, they all were open diffs from the factory.

I am in the same boat as you with my 04 Limited V10. I have been looking at the Auburn Limited Slip and the Detroit True Trac Limited Slip. I know that the locker is way stronger than either, but for the intended use (99% street driving, 1% off road) I am going to go with the limited slip. I am leaning toward the True Trac. They have good reviews in some of the other forums. Take a look at the following link. Auto Parts: TT 915A550 - True-Trac limited slip for 83 and newer Ford 10.25 and 10.5 with 35 spline axles. The True Trac limited slip uses a worm-gear design to bias torque from one tire to the other, providing extremely smooth operation. Since there

I have yet to order a pickup w/ limited slip. Only times I have been stuck it wouldnt have mattered anyway. As long as you are not doing hard core 4 wheelin smart driving will get you through what ever you need to IMHO, heck most of the time you can get thru most stuff w/o even engaging the transfer case.

How true mudmaker.

Most of the times it depends on the tire being run. I know with the stock Pirellis that were very road biased I would get stuck on the wet grass in my front yard while trying to go up an ever so slight incline.

My Michelins have no such problems and I still have the open diff out back.

i'll ditto that , on grass or mud my road tires are useless , if i know i may have to go off road, back on with the knobbly tires.
cant pull out an almost 4 tonne truck very easy , so i play it safe
