1999 f350 7.3L. I need to get new injectors, i think i want to stay with stock equivalent injectors, but i might possibly upgrade one size depending on price and value. I was wondering if anyone had any input on which injectors are the best quality and longest lasting. Any feedback would be great, i just want to head in the right direction before i buy a set. Thanks for your help
A good set of Full Force Diesel or www.swampsdiesel.com stage one injectors would get you setting a little bit better then stock for alot cheaper if you want to go that way.
Set of NEW AC injectors from any dealer of your choice... NEW AC injectors... You will need single shot tuning to run these, but if you want a nice set of injectors that will last as long as the stockers, then NEW AC code injectors is what you want...
should put you about 330-350 with the stock turbo and HPOP system...
I have had Swamps Diesel Performance's stage I injectors (175/146 single shot ) in for a little over a year now and Jon has had them in for 3 years. They have worked very well, added about 50 hp and I my stock HPOP no longer causes the SES light to come on since the single shots use less oil and the pump can maintain pressure. Sitting at 350 hp and 700 tq the last time on the dyno.
Have you noticed any mileage change? I mean, when you keep your foot out of it! I'm not looking to ever race my truck - getting a 1000cc sportbike for that - but I'm probably going to need to re-tuning for my F5 soon anyway, and was thinking that maybe injectors would be something I'd do. Stock turbo, stock HPOP, and that's not changing. For all that I'll go Cummins first, but I'd like to know your experience with mileage, etc. Thanks!
There is usually a little mileage bump with singles, Brendan. However, more fuel means you'll be stretching the stock turbo's abilities. Heck, with stock sticks, it becomes a major exhaust restriction up in the power curve (causing EGT spike). As long as you're not pulling heavy or nailing it hard, you'll be okay. That's the benefit of the bigger exhaust housing on the van turbo -- the EGTs don't spike at the top end. I was able to hit over 1500* before, now I can barely get to 1200.
Just like Joe said Brendan, conservatively I get a 1 mpg improvement and I believe they dropped the EGT a bit also, I am assuming both benefits are from the better atomization of the fuel with the single shot injectors.
If stage I injectors are in your future you can upgrade your stock turbo with the Van turbo for less than $500 or you can modify the stock one with a better housing if you don't want to spend the big $ on the aftermarket turbos.
