I know this has been asked many times. I have an 82 f150 xlt lariat 2 wd. 302 cu.in auto trans. I just rebuilt the motor and while I had the trans out I want to put in new front and rear seals. I looked at the pics to help I.D. my trans. and I don't know for sure which one I have. I think it is the AOD or E4OD. It has 14 bolts on pan and says METRIC on the pan. I hope this helps. Thanks in advance.
The E4OD did not come out until 1989 so you DON'T have an E4OD. It was electronically controlled too. You have an AOD. It was the ONLY automatic overdrive transmission ford ever put in a 1982 f-series, and it was only ever used behind the 302 in the trucks. In the cars it could be found behind the 351w, but it didn't last very long.

AOD = 14 transmission pan holes.
While the AOD was available in F100/150's beginning in 1981, the C6 was also available 1980 thru 1984.
All the 1980 and later LTD/Crown Vics, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars with 351W's all came with AOD's, as it was the only A/T available with this engine.
The C6 was not used in any cars after 1979.
Most cars used AOD's, some 1980/82 cars with 255's and 302's used C4's and C5's.
