roof brace on a 56 pu

i have a dennis carpenter headliner im going to install. the instructions say to screw liner to inner roof. is there a brace or something that was there originally? my truck has nothing. is this a straight piece or does it follow the roof line? i cant find anything about this. has anyone had the same thing and improvised? thanks for any info.

There is a brace that runs down the center of the roof from the front to rear or vise versa. The back section is where the interior light screws in also. I just put two screws in the center brace mine is a 55 but I thin they are the same.

The brace is not remanufactured but there should be some out there used. If you can not find give us a call, know a couple guys that might have. Ask for Diane or Jesse, will give them a heads up. Good Luck, Sy. 1-800-252-1956
