Hey guys, the other day i sprayed my hood with sealer because i was going to paint my hood, and well lets just say i should never let my little cousin in while the paint is wet.He put his little hand print on the hood.So i pretty much called it a day.Anyway i know i am going to have to scuff the sealer at the minimum before i recoat it.
But for some reason i decided to scratch the sealer with my nail and my nail dug into the sealer.
So i was wondering. Is it normal for an acrilic sealer to be able to get scratched off like that,or should i sand the sealer off?
Was the hood prepped correctly? Was the sealer mixed and applied correctly? What temp was where you sprayed? If the hood wasn't sanded, the sealer didn't have enough hardener, sprayed it in heavy coats, and it was cold as heck (even after you were done), then you would have problems. Also how old was the sealer and hardener you were using? Most hardener/activaters have shelf life once the containers are opened.

I was spraying an acrilic sealer(uncatalized). When i say it my nail digs in it just makes a little chip.I thought since its a non sanding sealer its just soft, but i want more opinions.
