Hey guys,
Hoping for a little insight here. I have an issue in that the heater controls are not working properly. I have heat and defrost (thankfully!) but I am unable to move the air to any other position. I had my dealer take a peak at it and I'm being told it's the EATC, part number 3L32 19980AA. Can anyone comment on what this part is or where it might be located? At a replacement cost of $700.00, I'll have to start hunting the wreckers but need a little knowledge first.
EATC is the Electronic Air Temperature Control. He is saying that there is a need to replace that control head that is right below your radio. If you do a search for EATC and my user name, you should find the instructions on how to put that unit into it diagnostics mode. Good luck!

Makes perfect sense now!
I'll do the search. Is the unit difficult to pull out? I'm assuming it's similar to a radio but ...
Very easy to pull out, just pull off the surround that goes around your eatc and radio - it is just held by clips. then you can see the whole thing and it will make sense how to pull it out.
Mine was doing the same - I replaced it and it works great now.
My dealer wanted $1200 canadian, I was able to pick one up for about $600 CDN after a long search online - I ended up getting it for cost from a friend who works at a dealer.
I was looking for info about any possible "home remedies" for a faulty Electronic Automatic Temperature Control module for a 2003 fF-150. (Not my truck...but it's on it's third one since new!!!) Ford charged my buddy nearly $700 each time for the part and gave him the Sorry-it's-out-of-warranty story, even though the truck only has 65k miles on it. Anyway, I haven't found any cheap quick fixes for the module, but I did find a company that rebuilds them and supposedly gives a great warranty on them -- all for under $200, I believe. I have never dealt with these guys, so this is NOT a "recommendation", but at least a source to call for info and parts, rather than just coughing up a house payment for a little black box. Good luck, and let us know if you deal with them, and what impressions/results you have.

By the way, the symptom the truck had was that it only blew air through the defroster, no matter what the climate controller was set on.
