Question ??'s About Stock Tach?

I am woundering a few ?'s. I own a '94 f150 auto and want a tach for towing and to try to keep low rpms for milage mostly towing though.

1) Whats my chance of finding a '92-'96 manual gage cluster the whole kabang in a junk yard and how much?

2) Is the pig tail already there or do I have to wire it?

3) Do you think this is pratical?

4) Do you think that a aftermarket would be better?

5) Would this change miles on my OD or is that all in the computer?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you will need a '94 dash cluster and no other, there are some internal wiring differences in the cluster assembly that causes problems with charging among other things if the right one isn't installed. They will all plug right in however, no wiring changes necessary. You can also retain your current speedo by unpluging it from the old cluster and inserting it in the new one, I don't know how the odometer is saved on the digital clusters though.

only a 94-95 cluster will work for you. the center section can swapped out to retain your mileage. they are plug and play. just pull old one and put in new one.

yep, just find a 94-95 truck in the boneyard with a tach cluster and grab it. most broncos have tach clusters in them.

The ODO is saved in the PSOM, Paul. In the 92+ trucks, it's attached to the back of the speedo itself, so swapping it will allow the OP to retain the mileage.

You should be able to pick up a 94-95 cluster for around 60 bucks at a wreckers.
