thanks Zman...sorry to hear your doing heads. Makes the noise issue insignificant. I am trading up out of need. kids have gotten big and cant sit in the supercab back seat anymore. We travel the state with the boat going fishing, scalloping etc, not to mention pulling the camper south to the keys or north to the Ocala Natl Forrest and all spots in between, so need says its time. Good luck re the new heads, hope it goes smooth for ya sir.
Cool good luck truck shopping, just my opinion i wouldn't touch a new 6.4 unless your planning on some mods that will void waranty but alow you to have a more reliable truck and better on fuel mileage, boy i could use a waranty right nowaka deleting the whole dpf system which is choking the new 6.4's down and constant regens are having a huge negative effect on mpg's, we have a 08 cc/lb at the fire house and i have never seen better than 14 hwy or city
could it be worn out brake pads? check the rear pads for wear. alot of them have a piece of bent steel on them that rub the rotor when theyr'e wore out, and will make a similar noise only when driving.or could be a u-joint?.i know i'll probably catch h*** for this but............when you look at trucks i'd take a serious look at a pre egr cummins with the 6-speed if i were you.
