Being you have traction problems, my first guess is that you have balding tires. If you have a lot of tread left, then weight is a concern. does you truck have a rear anti-sway bar? Try sand bags, They seem to help me a bunch during the winter. You usually can pick up bags for around 2.50-5.00

I don't think the tires will be good in the snow but they are great in dry and wet. (I got Mechelin 4x4 xpc 255/65/16 on stock F150 wheels for winter driving). OR: put a cap on it and fill it full of heavy stuff like a work truck, or a 1/2 inch steel plate. just how bad does it slide.
