Okay, I'm torn about what to do for my exhaust. I'm really leaning toward the true dual setup, but I was also thinking about running a 3" single setup with a glasspack. I've been doing some searching and haven't had much luck. I really don't like the work that the local shops do on a 3" diameter pipe(past experience). Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket 3" tailpipe available for my '86 F150??
I know what you mean about local exhaust shops and their bad collpsed bends. This is a cross section at the bend on a 3" pipe that the local exhaust shop bent up. The 3" ID pipe was collapsed down to around 2 5/16".
I bought a Flowmaster cat-back for my SD and used all the piping and muffler then connected the cat to the muffler with magnaflow mandrel bends which I cut to length and welded. Now I have a full mandrel bent system that wasn't expensive.
Thanks, I will definitely check that out. Your picture is exactly what my last 3" exhaust system looked like, horrible!! I had also found a Flowmaster universal 3" tailpipe, not so sure how well that will work.
The universal tailpipe probably will work pretty well. The main thing is it will not come with hangers. You'll have to use the stock hangers and weld on a piece of "L"bent steel rod and weld it to the pipe or weld the rod to a clamp and clamp it to the pipe. There are also aftermarket hangers available.
