Thought I might show you guys how the exhaust looks on my truck since I never posted any pics of it.
So here it is in all its glory, as it sits currently:
Little info on the setup:
First off, any of you guys running the ATS 3" downpipe, you can use a completely straight piece of pipe to run back to the muffler or tailpipe or whatever you use. I just used a section of 4" with a 4"-3" reducer welded on one end, and a strap clamp.
The tailpipe is the unit Walker sells as part of their kit for the n/a 7.3L diesel. You can buy the tailpipe alone for about $60. You can also get the 4" hanger at the back of the muffler (shown in the third pic) as well. I got everything from rockauto.com.
You may notice all the hangers have been cut and shortened...as they come, they position the tailpipe down REALLY low and I didn't like how it looked, so I raised everything about 2".
The muffler is a Magnaflow unit, 4" in/out with about a 24" long case. Got it for about $92. Still debating whether or not to keep it, I also have a 4" Hooker Maximum Flow I'm gonna try next time I'm working on the truck and see how I like it.
The Magnaflow is what I ended up ordering. The fact that its all SS is what made up my mind. I have a 3" exhaust, so I'll have to make an adaper housing on both ends, but thats not a big deal. We have a cummins fan cross the street from my house that has what is probably the noisiest cummins in town, so I probably won't get too much flack anymore for my truck being strait piped, but I figured it was only a matter of time since my town is trying to be altra proggressive to attract more city folk to buy all our new houses.
That, and I'd like to cut down on the noise in the cab since my truck is used on long trips.
