i just purchased a 77 f250 high boy 4x4 to use as a daily driver (i like the old stuff best) among other minor issues there are many electrical issues. most the dash lights dont work, the heater blower fan only works when jumped to battery, there has probably been some rigging and bypassing done considering it starts charges all exterior lights and some of the dash lights worked even before i grounded a cluster of half melted ground wires that gave me 12 volts at the fuse block. i am an experienced mechanic hewever a wireing diagram would help speed up the repair prosess. can anyone help? just wanted to add if anyone is interested hooker headers makes an excellent manifold back dual exhaust system. under 200 bucks and livend up the truck 100% and fit perfectly. once you get past the rusted manifold flange studs its a breaze! not designed for highboys but addapts with no problems.
Welcome to FTE. Not trying to pass the buck here, but if you go on Autozone's website, they've got some not-so-bad wiring diagrams that you can look up for your year truck, for free.

like it says here im a new user still getting used to the site so why is my message here from someone else and say thread hijacked
I'm pretty new too! Welcome to FTE. This tread was started by somebody asking a question about electrical issues and you posted a question of your own about engine ID that's called hi-jacking a thread. You should start your own thread with your question and will probably get more responses. Good luck!
well what do i go into to do so thanks for the help
It's pretty easy. Just go to the sub-forum you want (in this case we're in the 73-79) and look at the top and bottom of the list of threads. You should see a blue bar about an inch wide kinda shaped like a pill. It says "new post", click on that and it's pretty self explanatory from there.

I may be able to help.....can you be a little more detailed about the electrical problems you are having. cluster of ground wires?
1. Heater blower doesn't work on regular plug, but when hotwired to battery it does work.
2. You have a cluster of ground wires that are partially melted and you grounded those again to try and get voltage to the fuse block? What part of the fuse block, maybe the ac/heater part? Do you have 5 fuses in your fuse block? If so, you have two different power inputs for different circuits and one inline circuit. In other words, only two wires are bringing 12v to the fuse block. One should be black/grn stripe..that's the 12v for ac/heater and one other circuit. The black grn stripe comes from the ignition switch and is switched power. The thick brown wire (could be orange) coming from the fuse block goes to ac/heater for power. The interior guage light circuit is inline in you fuse block and it should be blue/red stripe. There are probably 3 red/blue stripe wires coming out of your box. There power comes from the headlight switch, not the fuse block. It goes to light the guages and all other dash lights, park/neutral selector on column, door jamb switches and int. dome light.
Maybe some of this will get you started. Give me some more detail and maybe I can help more.
