Show me your wheels

Here I am on the Dark site with my first Ford (04 X 6.0 4x4), so far I,m lovin it. The previous owners put on wheels/tires from a 05 f-250 with wheel spacers and that has got to go so I need ideas. I am thinking 17" maybe 18" stock height for now but it could see a 3" lift in the future.

Ok lottsaquestions let me ask you a few questions.. What kinda look you going for with your X??? A lifted look or a 22' rollen on dubs look. And if you are going to do a lift will you be happy with a rim and tire set up for a STOCK EX after you lift the truck?? Usually people fit the biggest tire they can to fill in the wheel well. You want to say away from the cookie cutter wheel look unless you really like tractors. LOL
Welcome to the site... nice to see someone new!!!

I'm not sure what look I want, for sure no 22" and no more than 3 inch lift. Just need some ideas, all the excursions around here look the same 5 inch lift 35/37 inch tires 20 wheels and sewer pipe exhaust. I had my eyes on some of the 18" Harley Davidson edition wheels off a f-250 but I was a day late and a dollar short.

Join "The OEM 20" Club"

As long as you have the spacers, why not join our "club".

Monsta, High1 and myself (any others?) have 08 OEM 20's mounted on our Xs.

The wheel spacers on the rig now are the cheap aluminum 1/2 spacer so I lost the hub centering and without tappered lug nuts the wheels are out of balance it feels like I have two oval wheel up front.

Sad to hear that... Hopefully other individuals seeking advice regarding wheel spacers will see this post... It's better to spend more on quality (proven) spacers than less $ on cheaper inferior products on the market (ebay).

Remember the old Fram commercial in the 70's... "Pay me now... Or pay me later"?

BTW... Our club uses spacers from Fred G... wheelspacers.com

Those OEM 20's look good. This might be the direction I go, now the search is on for some nice take-offs. Its kind of funny I never guessed I'd be sporting 20's on a 4x4.

In my opinion smaller (16" to 18") rims with a meaty tire look better on a lifted application. They look meaner and more usefull. Although there are exceptions to the rule.

Bob...those 20s are really growing on me. What (if anything) did you need to do for the speedo to be correct?

a.) Drive with traffic... b.) rely on Dad's pull (he's a Judge) . c.) when b doesn't work drop my bro-in-law's name (he's a Lieutenant in the NYS Police).

Nah... none of the above. I don't really drive too fast to begin with (precious cargo)... I was going to get a SuperChips Tirepaq Speedometer Programer... But, I did not want to spend the $ for something I wasn't really too worried about.

What I CAN do, if it was an issue w/o spending anymore $, is use my ScanGaugeII. It has the capability to make the correction.

Finally, since I do not make any correction in the PCM, the mileage reading on my truck is less than the actual miles traveled. Cool... eh???

You can also go to Ford and they can re-program the setting in the pcm for a different tire size.

I agree with Wopstar. I know people are going to hate on me for this but... 20's on a lifted truck/SUV are ghetto. If you drop your tire pressure when u really get stuck and you blow a tire off the rim. That isnt cool. I’ve seen it happen!! 20's, 22's and 24's were ment for lowriders. Some BRO probably out here in Cali thought it would be cool to throw some on his lifted truck and POWWWW everyone thought it was cool. Sorry I don’t!
If your truck is dropped and you are rollen 20's or bigger nice an tucked... fine. Bagged.. even better. Stock 20's great. But MT super swampers on a 20/22 inch rim is another story...BRO!!! Might as well get some STAR tattoos on your shoulders and start wearing black socks with your tramp stamp girl friend. Ok..ya I said it.
