it's good to hear that I'm getting one beast of a truck. (though i did opt for the 6.8 instead of the 5.4)

I did ask the people to add the plow package (and take off the heavy service suspension package) so hopefully it's not too late... it shouldn't be entering build until feb 09 2009 so it shouldn't be a problem... I know... a ways away.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a 1st time plower as per plow or anything?

Thanks

Matt

What kind of plowing are you planning on doing? (driveways, small parking lots. commercial lots) Find a plow dealer near you. A dealer two hours away won't be much help if you have a problem in the middle of a storm.
BTW the stock tires that will come with your truck (Continental) are HORRIBLE on snow. See if you can get them swapped at the factory or at the dealer. Do a search on tires and find a better choice, but any tire will be an upgrade over the Conti's.

I;ve been hearing that a lot about the conti's. Will do though, thanks for the info.

As for the plowing, I plan on doing drive, small lots, and possibly a small road or two.

Tire prefrence is a wide open to debate.

I have BFG's on mine Rugged Trail, I have had Long Trails also, but on a different truck.
Both models I never got stuck with, and always got to 50000 miles or more on them.

And plowed with both mud terrain, and all terrain.

The mud terrain is all together different now then years back. The biggest change came with quieter running lugs on the freeway. That is why I switched to all terrain's.

My buddy has dodges and always uses Goodyear's but a specific tread. My other buddy has chevys and he also uses GDYR's

The Irony is;
They are probably all made at the same mexican facility.

lol you have to love capitalism. Thanks for the tire info. Appreciate the help... with me traveling so often, does it really matter where i go to get my plow since in about 8 months i'll probably move after i get the plow?

It is always good to deal locally.

You build a freindship that way, If you are out plowing and somthing breaks, You can call the dealer tell him what you need, he already knows what setup you have and he will be more apt to help, or go the little extra.

If you havent bought the truck, or you have the truck but not the plow. I would waite till you move, just for that reason.

thats part of the problem... I'm always going to be moving (military) so my next station is where i'll buy the plow, and i'll probably move another 2-3+ times

dude ive got stock front suspension just basic 5200lbs springs and im hangin a western proplus 8' 6" 831lbs blade on the front and im sagging 1" tops. i would say stay stock till you get the plow then make the call. as for the alternator, wait again. id do a dual battery setup before id replace to a high amperage alt.

If you really want it, the rear sway bar should be an easy bolt on, if it doesn't come frm the factory. I thought the snowplow prep came with 6000# front springs (on my 6.4 anyway...)

I would think the springs would be OK if they are the Higher rated one.

Did they give you the engine oil cooler?? or larger alternator??

Springs can be added is needed. Oil cooler from the factory sure would be nice.

They offer a heavy service pakage, and a 10000 GVWR package also would work fine.

You coming to Ohio anytime soon, I would like to see the truck when you get it.

Just find out if that will void your warranty or part of it. I know it would have effected mine, but that's on a used truck. I think you NEED to have the plow prep on the truck to have the warranty cover the truck with the plow.
Sorry, I hate to throw monkey wrenches.

Later...

I can understand about the warranty issues, I'll double check and I'll someone who used to work as the F-150 interior designer (my buddies sister and yes I keep making the sister comments)

I should be in Ohio sometime in late March. I'll be cruising through almost all of Ohio though and making a trip down to Columbus for a graduation ceremony.

My 08 250 came with the bf goodrich rugged trail t/a's also. I had a set of bf's all terrains on one of my other trucks and they lasted a long time, they are great tires. I am ex army also, my mos was 19k, what do you do? I did my time over there in the first gulf war, and spent 2 years in germany.
