Last night I thaught I would take a walk out back to my new deer hunting blind and check it out. About 5:30 I got out there and sat down. 5 minuts later I hear my 8 year old (girl) and 12 year old (boy) walking up. I'm thinking so much for seeing anything tonight. They got in the blind with me and I tried to get them to sit still and be quiet. After about 10 minutes they setteled down. 10 minutes later I look only to see a 10 or 12 point buck 20 yards in front of me on my bait pile. I had my gun with me and managed to stand up and put a bead on it without it hearing me. A picture perfict broad side shot. The kids got a great look at it before it heard us, flaged and ran off. All I could think is why can't gun season be open now.
Well it's about 1 hour untill the season opens now so I'm off to the back 30 to see if he comes back for breakfeast.
As I am typing this out, there are 2 doe's standing outside my office window. I work in the city of Syracuse but there is about 1.5-2 acres behind this building that is un-developed. They wander down the railroad tracks from south of the city and end up here. Safest place for them to be. To much civilization(???) around to hunt them.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
14 hours to early
This will probably be my last post for the weekend. I'm off to a party in Manhattan for the evening, and first thing tomorrow morning I'm heading straight to my vacation house in the sticks. Only stop along the way will be at the gun shop to pick up the rifle I ordered; Remington 700 Stainless Steel, Laminated Stock in 7mm Rem. Magnum, with a Zeiss Conquest scope. Next stop will be at the house to unload, change into my camo gear, and setup in my back yard and wait. The last few times I took a walk in the back woods I stumbled on at least 1 deer; this time, I'll have a rifle in my hands. Wish me luck; this is my first hunt (squirrels & skunks don't count)! I'll let you know if I get anything.
