Core Support question

I found this truck on craiglsist and he would sell me the core support for $60. The thing is this truck is a 94 and isnt that the year they went to PSD half way through the year? So my question is if this was to be a PSD would the core support still work for my radiator on my IDI?

Here is a link. Tried to see if it says PSD on side but cant really tell...

The easiest way would be to ask for the 8th digit in the VIN which will tell you which 7.3 it has. The early PSD's had "Turbo Diesel", like the IDI did.

Is the core support for the OBS powerstroke even different than for the IDI?

The core support should be interchangeable, I know for a fact that a fellow I do some work for now and then has a 94 IDI core support in his 96 PSD F250. I don't know for sure if it was a 100% total bolt in job or not tho.

He said its not a Powerstroke. So that's good, I plan on eventually putting on a 92-up front clip on.

Are you looking for the core support for your truck as it sits, or with the later front clip installed? The 92+ core support won't work with an older front clip. You'd need an 83-86 one for your truck as it sits.

Does your truck have AC, does that truck have AC? The core supports ARE different between AC and non-AC trucks.

He's right. If you are planning to change the core support to the late model, you will need to do the front clip as well. Good catch!

Yea I plan on changing the rest of the front end to the newer style, I just dont have the money to buy it all right now so Im just buying piece by piece till I get it all.

How different are the Core supports Ie AC VS. NON, mine has A/C Im assuming the 94 he has has a/c. Anyone know?

On the later trucks, I don't think there's much of a difference, on the 83-86 stuff, they run a different rad and core support all together, later trucks run the same rad on them all. Give that support a good look over for cracking, they like to break the piece the hood latch is bolted to, just to the inside of where the rad mounts on both sides, leaving the rad holding the core support together.

the difference between ac and non-ac is that the ac trucks all had the h/d cooling option... the rad will be a bit narrower but a whole lot deeper. You cant swap rads between the two supports or at least I know you can't put a h/d rad in a standard support.... I just did a front clip swap on my truck and the rad support I had was rotted out... I couldn't find an aftermarket rad support for the h/d cooling option, and had to buy one from the dealer, now I'm an expert on core supports...lol

Core support for an 83 and 86 are different but they will work as far as the fenders and hood and grill.

As far as using a core support from a 94 on you 85 frame. The support will bolt to the frame but your frame is different from the core support mount out. The bumpers bolt up differently.

I was expecting to pay even more!!! lol. It was around 300 bucks which I thought was very reasonable... considering it being a ford part.
