I had found the two seating side by side at pick n pull there was about 10" difference on the later model one.. This i'd bet on!

I have 3 dana 60 fronts out of 78-79 f-250/f-350 trucks at my house now and my 71 F-250 I'll go measure and let ya know the results!

The 76 axle is a bolt in swap. I just did it on my 69. However, the width is a little wider so I also used the later rearend also. Tires stick out a little bit more but not bad. Used the same driveline also.

Right you are John, I forgot to mention that the front width is the same through 79. However the F250 4X4's kept the narrower rear rails through early 77. My '76 still has the narrower rear frame width (with gas tank in cab of course). Ugh!
