Hey everyone,
I have a 1990 F150,XLT Lariat with a 302.
I'm in the market for a cat back exhaust system.
I was looking at the Flowmaster Force II, 3 inch pipes with a 70 series muffler kit. I'm not interested in loudness or dual exhaust.
My question is the kit brings menderin bent pipes, if I go to a local muffler shop they can do the 3 inch pipes but not with the menderin bent.
Do these bents make much of a difference on the performance of the exhaust system?
Is a lot cheaper if the muffler shop do the pipes than buying the exhaust system kit, Thanks in advance!
Yeah they do because if its crease bent, the pipe won't be 3" it will be like...2 inches at the bend. And the more bends there are, the more restrictive. You probably won't see much of an improvement with that setup. You'd need duals and a good high-flowing muffler. Take a look at the Gibson dual sport exhaust or, the single cat back exhaust. I just had a 3" exhaust system put on my 86 Ford F150, 302. I went to a muffler shop and they went from the manifolds back. It is a single 3" all the way back and out the passenger side (like the original). They took out both cats and put on a magnaflow muffler. It sounds good (not very loud) and has increased my performance. If you want performance gains it is good to get rid of the cats (or replace them) because they are very restrictive.
