I have a stock setup exaust on my truck and I was wondering what is the cheapet best sounding exuast I can get. I can install everything myself and the local autozone has all the pipes for about 40$ so all I need is advice on a muffler. Flowmasters are kinda pricy but I know they sound good even wtih cats. Also,I have heard 2 things about glasspacks. That they are quiet(at autozone) and that they are really loud (everyone else). All I want is a loud sound. :7
I replied to yer message, but anyways--
My 351 currently has a 3" Summit Catback exhaust. It sounds nice and mellow, loud when around 1800-2400 rpms but quiets down when in the upper rpm's. It costed me about 200 bucks for the system (too much if ya ask me). Ummm... Glasspacks would be loud but would have a brraappp sound to them. And they would pop-pop-pop-pop when you let of the gas. Flowmasters are what I should have gone with. I just got a 3" in/out for my dad's SuperDuty 5.4 and that thing rumbles so much nicer than mine dammit I'm jealous But if you can have a muffler shop fabricate tailpipes and whatnot, then get an original 40 series 3" inlet/dual 2.5" outlet for your truck and you will not be disappointed. Some 4" tips will deepen the sound as well.
Good Luck!! Ray
heres a setup for like 140 bucks, cut the muffler off run 2.5 inch pipes to 3 inch tips and be sure to add a K&N air filter, i have that setup and it sounds like open headers, it is pretty loud and sounds great at startup, the loudes you can go is to cut the muffler off anyways
