I have a 4160 that is spewing gas from the secondary vent tube. I rebuilt it, put new inlet valves and adjusted the floats and it still does it. The floats arent sticking but I didnt check to see if the floats had holes in them. They are the orange plastic Duracon floats and Ive never heard of these having problems. The only other thing I can think of is excessive fuel pressure. It has a fairly new stock style mechanical pump on. Is it possible for the stock pump to do this?
One question: Did you check float height before putting together? I usually turn bowl upside down and roughly set the float so it's hanging level. That usually gets it in the ballpark. If for some reason the needle/seat has bent the tag it sits on float, the float might be too high to shut it off.
That pump should not cause the problem, as the front bowl is fine, right?
I did check the floats dry according to Holley's specs. Ive done these quite a few times before and never had problems with the fuel level. Im going to check the o-rings on the inlet valves, I might have damaged them when I put them in
