what does annular booster do? how does it work?
does it strickly help the low end or does it also benifit the midrange too?
My 360 is pulling anything from 2 - 3 tons down the road, could be highway or could be mountain passes, or just back roads.
Gas flows around the top ring in the booster, and comes out of the holes and creates a nice mist, resulting in better atomization. They work great with modifed engines and big cams.

thanks for the Info, I think it may have been said earlier that there wasn't that big of a difference in performance of my old 2 bbl and my new 600 edelbrock.
If you guy like, here is a little story of my first acual pull with horses up hill. before with my 2bbl, pulling a trailer load up this one hill i had to manually drop to 2nd to hold the RMPs up and still only doing 40mph and slowly, slowing down. yesterday was my first pull with that same weight, very simular hill, I started at 50mph at the bottom and with in a half mile up the hill i accerated to 60mph and still slowly, very slowly climping after 60mph. so far looks like the gas mileage is around 8mpg with the trailer (but haven't officially checked yet - as soon as i fill up ill know for sure)

Well measured bottom of carb and came up with 1 5/8" so might just get her rebuilt until some rich relative decides to die off so i can get a new shiny one.

We had 2 early 70's F250's with 360s. We used 2 large goose neck trailers to regularly haul livestock to the sale barn. The dual exhaust rotted off one of them, and Dad decided to put a NAPA stock style single exhaust on it. It killed the power so much that it would not keep up with the other rig that still had duals! It also would not make the trip with out a refueling stop like it used to either!! So, less power and more gas required to do the same work. These engines are choked down from the factory, and improving airflow with exhaust (including headers) and intake mods really wakes them up. It's always worth the trouble to get more power and better mileage, like having your cake and eating it too!!

Wow i started this thread a long time ago! Ok went and took the carb to a carb shop and the guy told me that mine was the only the second one that he had ever worked on in that style and said he had been doing this for about 40 years. Said i have a true 600cfm 2 barrel well i read on the body once he cleaned it up and has 1.23 stamped on it which i believe is 356cfm carb so pretty much middle of the road but he did some things to wake it up so maybe it is now? Says i have annular boosters which is nice to work with and has interchangeable parts. That's ok, still nice to have an original carb for a 68'. He told me he fattened up the circuit and told me to set my timing from 4' to 10' or 12' degrees giving me better throttle response. Said i have lifetime adjustments on the carb only have to take it down there once i get the truck running again. Said he made about 10 improvements on the carb which honestly i know nothing about carbs and didn't want just a plain jane rebuild so he tweaked it for me. I Asked about the ed streetmaster carb and he said he has 5 of them on the floor that customers have returned to have reworked. Told me the best tunable carb was one from a 460 that had a 7 or a T in the model number said most guys laying down 900 bones for their race trucks. Said a good core ran for about 200 so maybe ford did know what they were doing back in the day before we switched to new and shiny or tunable. He might know what he is taking about cause he seems to do alot of business for racers. Even told me he ran gas through it and adjusted it so i am pretty happy with it, just one more step to getting the gas guzzler back on the road. Oh and he told to mix 4 ounces of MMO to my gas and i will never burn a valve so i am gonna try that and just have fun. Waiting on a set of Sunpro old school guages with the black face and white needles to install before i fire her up again. Sunpro tach with white needle is my next treasure hunt but getting hard to find even on ebay! Always liked the blue and white ring sweep just reminds me of my dad. So maybe by fall i will have her on the road want to make sure its road worthy before licensing it and putting insurance on it.
