i've got a 05 f250 5.4L. the only brand of aftermarket intakes for my truck is k&n. i really don't want to put one under my hood. my question to all of you guys is if it is possible to use a banks ram air hit from an f150 5.4 3v. i really like the banks setup, but they don't make one specific to my truck
dude theres all kinds of intakes for that truck. Air raid, MAC, AFE, and AEM just to name a few. trust me i shopped around for a while before i picked one for my 5.4.

Please post links to these "all kinds" CAI kits... the OP is correct. K&N is the only aftermarket manufacturer that makes a CAI kit for the 2005 SD with 5.4L engine.
The thing about the k&n is that it looks like garbage. Plus, it is too common and i want to be different. i am just wondering if there is a way to retro fit one

Did you look at the JLT link, that would be different!
that looks really good, but can it be done on Super Duty? Plus it says you need to use the custom tune in the SCT programmer. i am happy with my diablo
From what I read to achieve the maximum HP you need the SCT tune made just for it. A.K.A. SCT tuned a 5.4 on their dyno with this set up and sells the tuner with the program their shop came up with. I don't see why it wouldn't work with your Diablo, you might not get the 25-30 HP that it claims, but I bet if set up right It'd do better than any of the other CAI's. As far as fitment, throw the heat shield away after making a pattern of the top part, and fab your own from aluminum or modify the one that comes with it. .
are the mass air flow sensors the same between the 150 and the 250? and in the installation instructions, it says that using the intake without the tuner will cause major engine problems

The sensors are listed as the same part number, I'd talk to JLT about the tune requirements and if your Diablo tuner will fit the bill. Which Diablo Tuner do you have, is it this one DiabloSport :: Gas and Diesel Tuning Systems?
That reads like it can be custom tuned by a CMR Dealer. Might be worth looking at. K&N is working on a CAI for my truck, so I'm holding out for it's release to see how it shapes up. I don't care what it looks like as long as it performs.
