Note regarding ECT

Just a note for those who need to change their engine coolant temp sensor on their truck. Mine cracked the plastic sender portion, so I had to get a new one. The pn Ford has is wrong. The sender for the oil sensor has identical threads, but a black connector, as well as the fact both senders have different operating ranges. The oil sensor also has a slightly different connector ridge on it.Either way, the CORRECT pn for the coolant sender is F5AZ12A648AB. IF the dealer gives you pn F65Z100884AA it is wrong and your sensor won't work. The oil sensor threads into the hole fine, but gives the wrong numbers. Oh yeah, let the coolant cool, and also drain half the radiator. I didn't and the first time I was good and nothing came out because I think the thermostat closed, but the second time I burned my hands... live you learn i guess.

In short, check your sensor numbers! And don't play with hot coolant.
