The hose im looking for comes off the water pump beneath the bybass hose, then is crimped to a metal pipe that kinda wraps around the alternator. The pip has one part that goes to a rubber hose that hooks up to the throttle body and ther other outlet hooks up to a heater hose. My local dealer wants $55 for the darn thing and no parts stores in town can find it on their computers. F5T218472HB is the part number that the guy at Ford gave me for it.

QWIK FIX: If the crimped section is OK, go to a parts store, get a straight nipple the same I.D. as the hose, cut the hose where it's split open, insert the nipple into each end, use two heater hose clamps to secure it.
Thanks for correcting me on the part number. Looks like I can't read my own writing. It is the rubber part that is messed up, so I'll pull it off and see if a splice will work or not. I suppose I can just cut it off past the hole and put in a splice and a new piece of hose.
Mine started leaking on the rubber part of that hose, and I couldn't see paying that much for it. So I did some experimenting, figuring if it doesn't work I have to spend the money anyway. All you have to do is use some side cutters and cut the outter metal part where it is crimped.. Just cut it all the way to where it rolls over and spread it apart. It will come off and then the rubber hose can come off the hard pipe. Buy some new heater hose and couple new hose clamps and good to go. That is if your rubber part of that pipe is leaking,,,,, can get pictures for anyone interested..

I have done exactly this before on other vehicles. There should be a barb on the metal pipe that will hold the new hose in place fine with a hose clamp.I used a small cutoff wheel on a dremel tool. That metal crimp is just a time saver for the assembly plant when installing engines and such. one less clamp to tighten .05 cents in their pocket.
Thanks for the tips. I cut the crimp off with a dremel and got the hose off of it. It cost me a whole $1.75 for a foot of hose and a couple new hose clamps. That was a much better fix than $35-$50 and I have a bunch of heater hose left over, if I ever need to do it again.
