04, auto, 373gears, 4in exhaust, tuner I get 18-20mpg highway 14-17mpg city and 15mpg towing 10,000# car trailer with rockbuggy at 65mph on hilly terrain not as good as my old 7.3 but better than my buddies Dmax with the same load ha ha.
04 F350 6.0 If I baby it on the highway I can get up to 18, if I drive it with no regard for fuel mileage I only get around 12 in town and around 13.5 on the highway. This is unloaded. Now, if I haul my toyhauler loaded which puts me close to 20,000 lbs I get around 8, but that is with some very big grades and keeping the R's up so I don't lose power.
I have a 06 6.0 F-350 4x4 SRW 3:73 gears 15k on the clock. The best I've gotten is 14.5 mpg. That's highway or town makes no difference. Still better than then 10mpg with the 5.4 equipped the same. Probably not worth the price difference though. But I'm gonna keep this one.
It all depends on where you live, where your diesel comes from are you burning #1, #2, Bio, how do you drive how heavy is your truck, what gears do you have, are you pulling trailers, do you live in the mountains, or a bunch of city driving.
I get about 14 city and 16 highway in the winter. About 16 city and 18 highway in the summer. 3:73 gears, I keep it under 2,000 rpm when I can, and I use Powerservice white bottle in winter and grey bottle in summer.
with the 04 in my siggy:
i average anywhere between 10 and 22. usual hwy mileage is 18 to 20. driving to NY in jun 08 i averaged a smidge under 21 for the trip (~1600 miles), with only one tank (i believe) being under 19. my normal average has been the better side of 19 until the switch to winter fuel. now it's more right around 18.
city driving is 15 to 18, depending on the conditions and the fuel. towing depends on speed and terrain. i try to keep the tach under 2000 no matter the driving, but pulling the gooseneck i've got to be doing 63 - 65 or better to have enough ooomph to keep the speed up. the worst i saw was just under 10, but that was in a 30+ mph headwind. usually it's 12ish.
i use some sort of additive. i used to use diesel kleen but have since used stanadyne (which i love, i'd use it if it were more available) and lately have been using nothing but the ford stuff, which is ok. it works for winter (blending 50/50 with summer/winter), but we'll have to wait until summer to see if it does any good adding mileage. stanadyne and DK did quite well getting me ~1mpg.
I have a 06 cc srw 3.73, I get 13.0 mpg in all around driving. never seen better than 15.0mpg. still does better than my 01 5.4L that i had before this.
05 crew cab f-250 3.73's automatic 4x4 pulled cat off, I can get 15mpg in the summer, 11 in the winter, and about 7-9 when pulling heavy loads. My dad's 93' with a 460 can get 9 when pulling same load. Good thing I spent the extra $30,000 to get this, Dealer said when they sold it to me that I would see low 20's with no problem. Complained to dealer about low mpg's and they said that 15 is normal and there was nothing they could do. Very disappointed with pickup, Especially when diesel is $1.00 more per gallon. Also I have found that I could go through way more snow with my old half ton pickup. So if you are not going to pull everyday get a gas engine or a least not a ford and be happy
I went 310 miles using 25.8 gallons which comes out to 12.01 mpg on the last tank. Mixed driving city and freeway and about 1 1/2 hours of idling (about 20 minutes a day). I use B2 diesel on every tank. I also don't baby the throttle but I don't drive like an idiot either.
