MPG on 6.0L Ex?

Fella's, what kind of MPG's are you getting out of your 6.0L PSD Ex's? (Real calculated MPG, not Lieometer) and if above the normal, 12 mpg town, and 14-15 mpg highway, what have you done to achieve those results?

Thanks..

I get 11-12 around town, 15-17 on the highway at 70 mph. That's 3.73 gears, stock tires, 4x4, stock engine. On the odd occasion I have to travel on state highways I push close to 20 at 55 mph.

I have an F250 with the 6.0L and while not an Excursion it does weigh in just shy of 8000lbs empty with a half tank of fuel and me in it.

On summer fuel we normally see 14-14.5 city and and 18-19.5 freeway.
On winter fuel we normally see 13-13.5 city and 18 freeway.

Freeway mileage is about 68mph, just under 2k rpm. My 7.3L Excursion gets very similar results completely stock.

I have cat delete, magnaflow muffler and Innovative Aggressive Tow Tune, everything else is stock.

Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers

Our 05 is very close to fastang50's. I just removed the turbo and cleaed it, so I will see if it helps.

when my truck was stock, with 3.73s, 4X4, stock (road use very mild tread michelin) tires, on relatively flat roads i would get 16-17mpg hand calculated. swapping to 285/75s dropped me 1-2mpg. my srl+ tune giving me about 400rwhp didnt seem to change my mileage any. except when i put my foot down goodbye anyone near me as well as fuel economy.

currently with my pretty aggressive 33s, my tune (and a slightly heavy foot) i get 15 mpg almost every single tank. if its all city i average 14 and can see 18 with almost full highway use. i have once, saw 24, but that was on a 1200km road trip all highway already warm engine, and a 2,000 foot elevation drop.

right now on winter fuel i'm getting 14-15 city and 17 hwy

summer...roughly 15-16 city and 18-20 hwy

of course...that all depends on the pressure on the skinny pedal

Your mpg is what the op should be getting, I use cetane booster all the time
Yes the petal to the metal tends to lower the mpg...
But raises the excitement level!

Mixed around town driving 15-17, depending on if warmed up or not and how long a trip lasts. I am 2wd, and aren't in a race on the hiway...

Long hiway drives it skyrockets..

When i first got my ex three years ago i got 21 mpg driving fl to nc and return, hiway driving mostly 74-75 (on speedo) which is really 71-72 cruise most the way. Got 940 miles on 45.5 gal on one tank.
Cruising at 2050 rpms or so.

Had the bulletproof setup installed and mpg dropped 19-20, now cruising at 2250 rpms though, in hindsight, i believe forgot to tighten exhaust bolts...

Got ficm repaired w/atlas40 from ed, more response at tip in, not much change in mpg or rpms on highway, but found big exhaust leak at exhaust manifold to y-pipe.

Fixed leak couple weeks ago, drove 250 miles yesterday hiway same 74-75 on dash, noticed rpms back to 2050 and overhead showing 24.8 vs previous best of 21-22. The sg2 instantaneous mpg was vastly better than last months trip, so i am stoked.

I can hand calc once i return and fillup, but ficm tune and fixing exhaust leak sure has paid off to me.

My lieometer is generally within 1 mpg around town, and closer on my longer trips..

Sent from my Sprint PC36100 using IB AutoGroup

13.2 average for the year. (Re: mileage log I keep for self employment)
With current mods in signature.
Knowing what I know now about the 6.0 I can't wait to see the change with the updates i'll be doing shortly.

Depends...

Mine stock delivers 13-14 around town. Coming back from Amarillo when I bought it, it got 18.3 mpg cruising at 65-70. Modded, highest was 17.5 coming back from tech day in Yoakum.

It a depends on your strategy. My truck was unfortunate enough to be reflashed under warranty and was neutered.

I plan on giving the truck it's ***** back by having PHP roll back the strategy to a more desirable one and tune the FICM for Atlas 40. I'll have better throttle response and better power/fuel economy. Just waiting to hear back from PHP next week.
