I just spoke with Mike's Off Road about an exhaust. He said they don't do too many turbo back's on the 6.0 anymore due to lower backpressure casuing a CEL??? I see most of yall have turbo back systems, what is the deal???
he quoted me $700 installed for MBR, seems a little high to me for cat back...
turbo back will lower the egts the most, cat back is good if you are worried about your dealer voiding the warranty for some dumb reason, i chose the cat back myself since i did not want my warranty voided. some dealers don't care either way do what you feel is in your budget, if you do the turbo back remove the cat and keep it in your garage if you need to return to stock config to got to the dealer for warranty work.
I did turbo back MBRP with a CAT delete. There are no sensors on the exhaust system and it won't light up any idiot lights. The CAT is very restrictive so if you live in an area that does not inspect trucks get rid of it.
So what is all this talk of turbo back and cat back exhausts? I will have to admit I don't know much about them.
Go to MBRPs website and look at the pics.
A CAT back exhaust leaves the Cat on the truck. The CAT is part of the emmisions system. So if you want to keep the CAT because maybe you live in a state that inspects diesel pickups then you get a CAT back exhaust.
Thing is, the CAT is restrictive and robs some of your power. And if you get rid of the CAT you can really hear the turbo (thats way kewl).

If that is just the plain jane 4" aluminized single system they have to be joking with that price. Havent seen one single "cel on b/c turboback exhaust" thread on this forum since i have been on here. Like mentioned above, no sensors are in the exhaust.
Do not waste you $$ on just a Cat back system. The Turbo down pipe (3") has more restriction than the stock (3-1/2") muffler. I did the Cat back first (4"), noticed no MPG gains, no performance gains and EGT's did not change. Once I did the Full 4" Turbo back, EGT'S down by 200, MPG'S went up 1-3 and Performance you can feel.

I did the exact same thing. Ran cat back for a year, then went ahead and made it a complete turboback by adding the downpipe. Havent seen any increase in mileage like you but the egts dropped. Now in tow/haul, no matter how hard i am in to it or how heavy the load, egts never get over 1000*. Got to love it!
