Maybe fuel gelling. I seemed to be having some similar problems on my way to work this am. I topped mine up with fresh fuel and doubled my dose of diesel power. All seems well for now. Find out more this afternoon when I haul 8000lbs of feed back to the farm. Got a couple big hills to climb and the temp here aint goin up at all.

what does fuel gelling have to do with the turbo boost?

If there is no fuel getting to the engine it cannot produce and exauhst, and therefore cannot produce and boost. I will say I am just guessing here.

Out of curiosity... with the extreme low temps you guy's are getting what is your coolant rated at? I mean when will it start to freeze? No power, no boost... I'm wondering if the coolant is "slushy" in the block and if so that would mean the coolant flow would be restricted which may cause your engines to run hot and defuel?? Just a thought, it happened to me years ago when I lived farther up north during a deep freeze ( the car didn't defuel, it was a 67 mustang, but it got really hot before I figured out what was wrong). Oh by the way it was in the low 70's here in Las Vegas yesterday!!

Well i lost boost while on the freeway after driving for 30 minuetes. Also truck was plugged in. I am assuming it is the motorcraft coolant.

2 months later, into another cold snap truck still loosing boost after a highway drive. ive had the heads replaced with non cracked ones, ARPS, EGR delete complete. runs fine, did a 1800km trip to mountains n back no troubles. back to work same time cold snap hits and issue still here. this morning was -38*C. truck was blowin good heat. so for drive home i coverd front end in completely, so it was suckin air from rad area. same troubles. when i slow down to turn onto the highway what ever dont like the cold gets warm enough to give me boost, then after a bit it drops off. if i punch it 10-15 secs later it over boosts.

sooo what is along the intake that can affect boost pressure, but can idle around in the same weather and run fine. when the truck is drivin highway speeds (60mph) this "thing" cools down, messes up boost. i slow down to turn or go thru town, and boost is back for a short time. VGT solnoid? MAF sensor need cleanin? air cleaner is good. no warrenty and cant get it to the dealer for 7 days. they had it the 1st time i was havin issues with it, checkd egr syst, turbo and all was good suposibly.

thanks, dave.
