Ok, Im in the middle of a cab swap(78 f350 crew 2wd auto) and the cab from the salvage yard had most of the wires cut. So, my question is, where does the red/green wire for the coil exit the fire wall? I have searched all the wires that exit the firewall in the engine compartment and still cannot locate this elusive wire. I mean I would rather run the wire from where it was cut in the engine compartment than run another wire from the ignition switch. What other wires are run with this wire when it comes out of the firewall? I can distinguish the wires for the lights(turns and headlights) and blower motor, but some wires I cannot seem to locate it in the wiring diamgram. Anyone have any pics of the wires? Im also try to locate the red/blue for the starter solenoid and no luck as well. Any comments/pics are welcome. Thanks in advance!!!!
I believe the resistor wire goes from the ignition switch and is factory spliced somewhere above the heater plenum just behind the glove compartment. I think it changes color at the splice. The starter wire should follow that route as well, straight from the ign. switch to the solenoid.
Now that i think of it, my ign. coil wire actually came out of the firewall between the brake booster and the fender. The resistor wire was in the other bundle.
I have a spare harness somewhere, meaning to look for it anyhow, I'll post back if i can figure it out.
I found it easier to put the harness from the "old" cab into the "new" cab if your going to use your original instrument cluster. The plug that goes to the back of the cluster is different for ones with gauges and dummy lites. I think the only thing I had to cut and splice was the wires for the wiper motor. Its alot less guessing and headaches.

Only problem with transplanting the wiring harness is that the other one is hacked beyond belief and also 4-5 years older than the 78/9 wiring. the coating on the 74 is hard and brittle and not worth catching the truck on fire after all the work we have put in it. The 78/9 crew cab is in great shape, but some one just cut all the wire connections upon removal instead of just unplugging them.
So is the red-green wire come out of the firewall near the brakebooster? Right? because there are alot of red wires that exit there but none appear to be the red/green one I am looking for. I may just pull out the ignition switch and run a new wire....suggestions??
On my '78 the red wire that went to the coil came out by the brake booster and was on one plug with two other wires - red/white (coolant temp) and white/red (oil pressure).
I am still unsure where the resistor wire actually goes other than it never passes through the firewall.
BTW i never had good luck with the diagrams either.
As for the Red with Blue stripe is on the passenger side next to the A/C blower box. It should go to a grey 4-pin terminal for the trans neutral/safety switch. This terminal has wires that are with 2-red with blue stripe, 1 doubleWhite with Purple Stripe, & 1 double Black with Red stripe.
Crazedfox, you are the MAN!!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. Over the last few days, we have been finishing up some stuff on the truck and this is pretty much what was holding us up. Thanks a million!!! Perhaps we can get it fired up in the next few days...

On mine that changed to PINK and it reads "resistor wire do not cut".
