gauge problems
hey everyone, i just signed up after my 1976 f150 was purchased. i got it running but the gauges don't work. i tried grounding the wires but the gauges didn't sweep. im not sure it is getting any power. i have an old old wiring diagram but there are 4 different versions and is a mess. any ideas would be awesome. thanks.

check grounds and get a chiltons or haynes and trace wire back and chect for voltage

If I am not mistaken it is a purple wire with the printing ballast resistor "do not cut" that powers the gauges. Just take out the gauge pod and look on the back at the printed circuit and trace the guage power to the color of wire on the connector. I also pretty sure tracing back the ground for the guages you will find a black wire(s) in the connector. So there you go, your power incoming (purple) and ground (black), but double check the circuit as I am going off memory from my '73 panel.
