vacuum advance canister

couple questions. Duraspark 2 electronic

1. Does adjusting this change the amount of advance or the rate it comes in?

2. cw or ccw for more/faster advance?

If I recall correctly, turning CW gives you more advance, and CCW gives you less advance on a stock replacement advance. However, a lot of the factory original advances are not adjustable, from my experience. I don't have a great answer as to whether or not it changes the maximum or the rate (tension), but what I can tell you just from experience is that the less advance you give it (the farther CCW you turn the allen wrench), the less the rod pulls in for a given amount of vacuum. That is to say, it's harder and harder to move the rod as you go. My advice to you is to take off the distributor cap and apply vacuum to the advance and watch how much the rod moves with different set-screw positions. After a few minutes of playing with it, it will make sense to you. I have to warn you, it has been a few years since I've done this, so there is a chance I'm wrong on the CW\CCW answer. But like I said, it's pretty easy to just go find out.

Don't have a vacuum generator, but one of my freinds is bringing his home from work. Like you say, looking with the cap off will probly tell me. Finally made it above zero outside so work can start on the truck again.
