I beleive there in each owners own opinon on style or not. I would only place them on a 4x4 due to aggressive look; but if money was not in question, when / if I could purchase them I favor the diamond plated bed rails for looks as well as durability.
If the top of your bed sides are worn & painting is not an option, I would use them.
The black plastic are low profile, but what does mounting them require? Just clips or glue?

That's what I'm hoping to find out. The description isn't very detailed on mounting but the reviews are positive. My truck has fresh paint and with the height it's easy to scratch it up when reaching over the rails. I'd like to find something like the ones on my Superduty that aren't too noticeable on dark paint.
i have not seen these type on our old school trucks, just the newer generation f series.they may not be noticed on dark color paint.so that may work to your advantage,if you want a subtle touch of protection.i have the diamond plate bed rail caps on my dually, they were put on at the same time i put the tailgate cap(the cap covers the whole inner tailgate and caps the top of the gate too), the front of the bed bulkhead, and running boards. it all goes together nice, but not very subtle.i am now making templates to fit diamond plate shaped kick panels in the cab,and door sills too.the kick panels will be removable.
i will see if my wife Heather will snap some of the bed ,and show me how to put them on the computer and the site.I'm not sure how to do it.I'm not a very computer user friendly guy,so she does all that for me.i can only show the tailgate as the truck has a tool box bolted to the box,up against the front bulk head. i also have a canopy covering the box . so i can show the outer edge of the rail cap. i think your ford is really a nice rig. it would look great with the diamond plate caps. they would set off the dark color paint really nice.-billy
I'm not even close to knowing my way around a computer. my truck has an MSD billet distributor, with a 6al box. that's about as close to a computer i get lol. i don't try too much on my own because i seem to wreck the computer whenever i get to adventurous.i don't touch the digital camera either,Heather takes the pictures in our house.
It only took an old guy with an aluminum cane to dent my bedrail.
That's what I'm thinking. It's still just 16 ga. and it doesn't take much to scratch paint no matter how tough the bed is. Now if I can just get my grand dad to stop using my hub caps like steps...
