Updated headlight assembly 99-00
I have a 99 SD. It has those funky non clear lenses. I believe in 2000 they switched to a clear lens type. Will the clear lenses assembly retrofit the 99 style. I don't believe they changed the sheet metal any so I think they may fit. But I have been wrong before, and at least once today!
I believe the 99-02 is all the same. In 2003 they went to clear lens with the fluted reflector. My 02 was updated, but I didn't help my boss do it. He trimmed the drivers side a little, but I can't see why it was necessary. I went ahead upgrade mine to 2005 head lights and that took a bit of work.
Here's the write up I did for the 05 http://sites.google.com/site/reax222...attredirects=0
The 99-04 should all interchange with little work.

Updated headlight assembly 99-00
Hey there Storrmtruck. I'm in the process of doing this very swap myself. I have an 01 SD that has the crappy lights on it. I ordered a set of 2007 headlights on E-bay, $169, and also a HID setup, $63. I received my Hid kit today and the lens should be here on Mon. That gives me some time to do the slight trimming that is needed to fit the 07's. Do a search here and type in "headlights" and you'll find all kinds of info. I should have mine done by the end of next week. I can't wait. Roger
If you've got the cash, go with the ungraded harness and 05+ lights. The difference is HUGE. I drive down dirt roads alot with no street lights and the extra power of the upgraded lights can't be beat. Well, maybe by a full rallye-spec lighting system, but you get my point... hahaha
I have an 01 SD, the easiest thing I would suggest is to remove the 9007 bulbs and install a 6000k color 9007 bi-xenon digital HID upgrade kit 140-160 on ebay. Its a plug and play set up just mount the ballasts near headlights and you are good to go. I also upgraded the 9145 fog light bulbs to a 9145 3000k color HID kit about 90 on ebay and plugged in the ballasts to existing wire harness, zip tied and dbl sided the ballest to plastic fog light brackets all without removing the light assembly. hope it helps. Anice set of just headlight replacements I saw on ebay by seller racingguys has three lights instead of the one big one- h3 projector, 9005 projector and 9006 wide angle bezeled... about 150 on ebay. keeps the stock front and side marker amber assembly... looks good.
Well, I just finished getting my new lights in. I have a 2001 SD crewcab. I installed the 2007 clear lights with a HID H13 conversion. There was a little bit of missmatch on the plugs and wireing. Nothing too bad, just had to use the plugs fron my old turn signal and side marker light instead of the new supplied plug from the 2007's. I will say that the HID's with the 6000 color are really bright. One thing that I'm not sure about though, is the fact that there is only one beam. No hi and low beam. I haven't had a chance to drive it at night yet to see if it makes any differance without the hi beam though. Has anyone else done this and ended up with just one beam? And if so, how do you like it? Thanks for your time. Roger

I have 01 sd cc and tried several combinations of bulbs and wiring switching hi and low. once i put in the 9007 hid kit 6000k which was just low, i wired up a set of lights between the fog lights and use them pull on for the 30 seconds or so i use hi beams. there are bi xenon kits that provide light on both low and high by either using diode in the ballast to keep the light on in either position or uses a solenoid to move the metal piece that changes the angle of light in the oem light and thus changing the pattern. the hid kits at 35w put out 3x the light of oem 9007 or 55w put out 5x the light. you will light up signs and reflectors on the road almost a mile away. its awesome. i also replaced the fog lights 9145 bulbsl with the 50w hid 3000k kit which puts out 4000 lumens of golden yellow and cuts the fog like a knife. enjoy
