For those who have had the pleasure to meet Jeff Hornsby (President of the Orange County Chapter of Pickups Limited) at the F100 Western Nationals or at any of may other F100 runs/events, you already know what a special man he was and his love of F100s. Sadly Jeff passed yesterday after a short bout with cancer. He will be dearly missed by many in the F100 community.
Pickups Limited has organized a poker run in his memory that will take place on January 31st, 8:00AM leaving from Ken Grody Ford in Buena Vista, CA.
Here is the link to the club's website and the thread on Jeff Pickups Limited Message & Photo Galleries :: View topic - Jeff Hornsby - Update ...Jeff had been out of work for the past few months so even if you can't make the run please feel free to contribute to his memorial fund through the club. Godspeed Jeff, you are already missed.
That is sad. I can relate. People do not know grasp that their health and their family are soooo important. It seems to be about the age of 40 and you have some kind of health issue. Obesity or some form of a disease can creep in so quick.
Folks that brag on their good health, are usually younger than 40. I remember them days....haha!!
Mr. Hornsby sounds like a real cool guy and even though I never met him,can relate. I have battled some real health issues ,but still able to hold my own. I hope people wake up and get physicals and check-ups more often, although I hate going to the doctors...it is a must-do!!
RIP.........sorry to hear this/Bill
Very sorry to here of Jeff’s passing. I did not have the honor of meeting him but I did look forward to his writings in the pickups limited news letter. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends.

RIP Jeff, I to enjoyed reading the letters that the PUL put out.
Bill it is interesting that you say 40 is the magic number. I will be 40 in 41 days. I went to the gym last night to work out and my left hip hurt all day today . Hence the reason I am here instead of at the gym tonight.
I realized mortality at 16 when two buddies died in a wreck - I was supposed to go with them. Very close to home.
We lost a 16 year old cheerleader in a single car, alcohol-related accident here in Tuttle this last weekend. Big hit in a small town.
I was completely convinced of my mortality at the age of 27 when diagnosed with melanoma. We caught it on the razor's edge of too late. A full year of TOUGH immunotherapy, and doc cleared me again as of this week, just over 3 years surviving.
My mom is about to begin her battle with breast cancer. So far, they think it's early and small and localized...
LIFE IS SHORT. I tell my friends I love 'em, much less my family.
I do my best to take it all in.
Moments with the wife, my boys (5 & 7months - the age gap due to my cancer), dawn and dusk, and any opportunity to help somebody around me who needs it. I thank God every day for this awesome life and ask for the opportunities to help others the way He's helped me.
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Jeff. It, by these accounts, appears that Jeff was a guy who did his best to take it all in.

I wanted to give everyone an update from the Jeff's Fun Run. We had 125 Hot Rods make the run and was able to give over 4k to his wife. It was nice to see all the chapters of Pickups limited make the run. The San Diego Chapter had the most trucks and it was good to see Chuck and his fellow members that day. Here are some pics I took from the run. My wife and I took Jeff's wife on the run and had lunch then made our way to John Force Race Station. Many thanks to all the shops and Ken Grody Ford and John Force Race Station for all they did. I miss Jeff every day... Jeff's son (Sean) drove Jeff truck on the run. His son is the one standing next to the truck with sunglasses.
