Can anyone advise me what to say or how to convince my dealer to access the PCM and enable the daytime driving lights which are not enabled currently. Apparently, this can be done on the 2008 F250 SD. The dealer has, in the past, said Ford will not allow that. This seems ridiculous if it is possible to do so. Any aftermarket solutions require considerable wiring, splicing, and module location and fixation.
I am in the San Francisco Bay Area so if anyone in this area knows of an accommodating dealership, let me know.
I have a Job 3 ' 08 6.4 that came from the factory with daytime running lights. My truck was ordered through Ford's fleet program. Day run lights are an option on fleet orders through ford. I don't have the order code but it is available. They charged me an additional $ 55.00 for the option.
Mine either. And my dealer either doesn't know how, or refuses to activate them, when there apparently is a method to do so. If I knew how, I would show him.
My dealer in Stockton was able to set up the daylight running lights in 5 minutes on my 2008 Harley sd 250 truck. Call tony in service dept. @ Big Valley Ford in Stockton at 800 865-9964 and ask him what to tell your dealer.
Wait a minute these trucks have day time running lights?
How come my 08 f450 doesn't have them...I want them.
They sure do have DRL's. The reason you do not have them is they are not enabled. As of the '08 model year DRL's became a function of the SJB (Smart Junction Box) and are a programmable parameter. Programmable parameters are considered customer preference items that may be modified by the dealer via scan tool. All you need is a dealer who knows how to change the parameter from disable to enable...
I'm not familiar with the 08's but if your light switch has the automatic setting then turn to that and cover the sensor on the dash with a piece of black electrical tape to fool the sensor that it is night. Cheap and easy DRLs.

Wow... I don't even know what to say to that.
If you do that, you will not be able to see your information center or radio displays because they dim for night use.
There is a mod for the info center that takes care of it and dash light control on high works for the radio, at least for me. As an OTR driver I have always run with my headlights on for safety. My biggest complaint to DRL's is that the rear lights aren't on. If you need to be seen from the front, why not from the back, hence my turning on my lights every time I drive, no matter which vehicle.

My big A$$ tailgate is kind of a dead give away to people behind me, if that don't work then I'll have to pry my hitch out of someone's radiator again. I'm damn tired of catering to the stupid drivers of the world.

Like Maadman, I also am an OTR Driverand I always drive with my lights on. When I am home driving my 350 dually, I still turn on the headlights. My work truck is an '09 Pete with a 48' reefer trailer with chicken lights along the sides and people still don't see it or dont want to see it, I am not sure which it is!!

Sorry about the rant, the colder weather has my motorcycle injury acting up, I believe you should do what ever it takes to be safer on the road. For the record OTR drivers not part of the problem. It doesn't matter if you are a big rig or a motorcycle the stupid people are out to get you "on their cell phones".
Back on topic: at most dealerships, money talks. Rephrase the question to "How much will it cost to activate my DRL"

Too much trouble and too expensive...
Just throw an old baseball cap over the sensor. Looks better too.

I've tried the tape over the sensor, but the info center lights are too dim during the day to be seen - does the Mod take care of that, and if so, can you explain the mod? I have a 2008 F350.
I've heard that a wire in the passenger kick panel can be cut to stop the hi/low dashboard lights, but don't know what bundle or color.
Really hate cars w/o DRL, plus I would get an insurance discount with them.
