The bolts securing the pulley to the waterpump are only accessible with an open-end wrench. Of course, mine is not biting hard enough and is rounding off the bolt.
I can't get anything else on the bolts.
ANy suggestions? Can I get the waterpump out with the fan still attached and work
on it on the bench? I'm concerned about beating up my radiator fins.
My wrenches are Craftsman. Do I need a better wrench? Perhaps a 6 pt?
Those would work if I could put a socket in that space... then again if I could use a socket the bolts would not be rounding!
I haven't done much damage yet. Just trying to find the right tool for the job. As soon
as the first wrench slipped I stopped in my tracks. I haven't hacked up the bolt heads yet...
Second, (from what I can see) this IS a 7.3 diesel engine, right?
I may have missed something along this thread, but I can't find where you mentioned the engine. A lot of people come to this forum asking about other engines.

Yes, I'm using metric. It is a 7.3L.
As long as I know the shaft is threaded I will go forward with the impact chisel... It's good to know beforehand! : )
