"Up For Sale" seems to be a common title these days. How sad... more unemployment and another American company disolving

Ford said it reached an agreement Tuesday with Navistar to end the diesel supply agreement Dec. 31, 2009. That agreement had called for Navistar to provide the engines through 2012.
I thought Ford and Navistar were a done deal already? Either way, not good news.

I wonder if Ford will be buying a bunch of extra engines for when they have to start changing them out? I sure hope they are testing the new engine.

Well maybe Navistar should have thought twice when they bucked up to Ford. I would say Cat will take over for replacements because that is who makes the current 7.3L blocks.

Well, THAT gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over.

You thought that your local Ford dealership had high-priced parts? Just wait.....

Yeah no kidding... we had to buy some replacement bolts for our loader at work (small bolts) and they were 20 bucks each.

I dont know, Cat has made it perfectly clear they want no part of the EPA's 2010 B.S., thats why there are dropping out of the class 8 market.

They can still make replacement blocks as stated by manufactures they have to supply replacment parts for 10 years after production ceases so that is excempt for EPA. But cat has all there money wrapped up on heavy equipment and generators.

It's just too damn bad that ALL the engine manufacturers didn't take this stance, cooperatively. That includes foreigners.

Alas, their mandate to compete won't allow this, if even for their own long-term health. Their acquiescence is running them into the ground. Can anyone spell "depression"?

The nation would oneday come to a grinding halt due to some EPA reg, and the Feds would then have to begin to make their decisions based on economic impact to the users, not some tree-hugger's demands.

Only 10 years? We need to get people to quit grenading blocks so there will be a supply still once they quit making new ones
